Le carnet de santé, document emblématique qui accompagne chaque enfant de sa naissance jusqu’à ses 18 ans, s’enrichit d’une nouvelle dimension. Initialement conçu pour suivre la croissance et la vaccination, il a su évoluer au fil des décennies pour répondre aux enjeux de santé contemporains. Après l’intégration en 2024 d’un guide sur les troubles du neurodéveloppement, c’est au tour de la problématique des écrans d’y trouver sa place.
Fabienne Kochert, pédiatre libérale à Orléans, souligne l’importance de cette documentation tout en rappelant que “idéalement, on espère que les parents aient obtenu toutes ces informations avant la naissance du bébé”. Cette évolution permet à la France de maintenir sa position de leader européen en matière de contenu du carnet de santé.
Les impacts scientifiquement prouvés des écrans
Les recherches scientifiques récentes mettent en lumière les effets des écrans sur le développement des enfants :

– Pas de réseaux sociaux avant 12 ans

Cette méthode propose quatre règles essentielles :
1. Pas d’écran le matin
2. Pas d’écran durant les repas
3. Pas d’écran dans la chambre
4. Pas d’écran avant le coucher
Le rôle crucial des parents
L’accompagnement parental est fondamental dans la gestion du temps d’écran. Voici quelques conseils pratiques :

Une préoccupation internationale
À l’échelle mondiale, différentes approches sont adoptées. En Suède, les recommandations sont particulièrement strictes, interdisant totalement les écrans avant 2 ans. Au Canada, la Société canadienne de pédiatrie préconise une limitation à une heure par jour pour les 2-5 ans.
